I am thankful everyday for having the opportunity to be involved with Varsity Catholic. I’ve received abundant blessings being part of this thriving group dedicating themselves to spreading Christ through a commonality so many people share- competitive sports. Through their example and leadership, they are guiding athletes to play their sport for our Heavenly Father and Creator. What We Do
Within the NCAA, there are currently over 380,000 student-athletes across the country. The NCAA alone has an operating budget (2007- 2008) of $614,000,000. The NAIA has 291 participating schools and another 50,000 student-athletes. Even though these numbers are a small percentage of the overall college/ university population, it is not difficult to see the influence that sports has on our culture, especially on these campuses. We, as followers of Jesus Christ, must do our part to speak into this massive piece of our culture. It was early Sunday evening, I was tired and a bit downtrodden after a conversation with a young lady didn't go as well as I thought it should have gone. My melancholy mixed with exhaustion.
